Project Me - Just for Fun

Here is something I put into my Project Me book just for fun:

I used pieces of Graphic 45's Glad Rags paper on Tim Holtz Kraft - then colored in some of the smaller sketches with colored pencils.  After adding a few brads and a little journaling, I was done.  As much fun as the paper dolls I played with as a girl!

NSD Is May 4!

NSD (National Scrapbook Day) is only two weeks away!

The first Saturday in May is National Scrapbooking Day! It was started in 1994 by the well-known album company, Creative Memories, and is celebrated on the first Saturday each May. Since 1994, scrapbookers all over the county celebrate their passion for Scrapbooking on this day! (from http://nationalscrapbookingday.com/)

Celebrate National Scrapbook Day by joining me for our Scrap-IN at Michael's, 7705 SW Nyberg Street, Tualatin (exit #189 off I-5).  Crop from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. on May 4 for only $5; all those attending receive a tip sheet plus special prices on a featured product line.  Bring family and friends who have expressed an interest in scrapbooking - no experience is required!  Grab some photos, and come for an hour, three hours, or all six hours.

Project Me - Qualities of Life

I made this layout for my Project Me scrapbook journal to show some of the qualities I would like to more fully embrace in my life.

The capital letters were actually cut from a piece of 12x12 paper covered with the letters of the alphabet - something I happened to have in my stash.  The rest of the words were all a product of my computer and printer.

I filled the opposite page with photos of flowers that I've taken with my Canon SLR.  Developing my camera skills is definitely on my "To Do" list.  This page is a reminder of the beauty around me and of my goal of becoming a better photographer.

An Inexpensive Embellishment

It's always tempting to check out new embellishments when shopping for scrapbooking staples, isn't it? I go into the store, thinking I will just pick up some adhesive, and find myself looking at flowers, ribbons, stickers, and buttons. Experimenting with a new type of embellishment or purchasing something familiar that I greatly enjoy working with is lots of fun. But, sometimes it is hard on the budget!

A photo can increase my embellishment options at a cost of only a few pennies. The Easter egg shown here was a gift I brought home from an Easter brunch. By selecting an appropriate print size, then cropping the photo as needed, I can use it one or more times to embellish my Easter brunch layout.

I can use it on its own or combined with other embellishments. I can make it stand out by adhering it with pop-dots. I can change its appearance with ink or chalk. As with much of what goes into a scrapbook, there's no end to the possibilities once I get started.
